The Aeglé Fund

It all started when…

In early 2018 an idea of a fund to provide treatments for patients with scars and disfigurements was developed by the staff in the UAB Cosmetic and Laser clinic.  The idea was developed because they were seeing numerous patients with acne scars, skin cancer scars and other disfigurements.  However, the treatments suggested by the providers typically included filler, neuromodulators, pulse dye lasers, ablative lasers and other treatments typically not covered by insurance. Initially the fund was to be called the Dragon Fund, after the UAB dragons' mascot, Blazer.  However, a broader reach to all of the greater Birmingham area patients as well as community providers lead to the change to the Aeglé Fund. Aeglé is the Greek goddess of radiant good health
