Tranexamic Acid
Microneedling procedures stimulate the skin’s self-repair mechanism by creating micro “injuries” to the skin with a special sterile device that is “rolled” across the skin. Tranexamic acid is used topically as a skin lightening agent. Of note, the FDA has NOT approved the use of tranexamic acid either orally or topically for skin conditions and therefore this is not an FDA approved procedure. However, multiple studies have shown improvement in pigmentation by using the combination of microneedling with topical tranexamic acid. The treatments are given monthly for 3 months and take about 45 minutes to perform.
Add on Tranexamic Acid with your microneedling treatments for Melasma.
